Central Pennsylvania's Unique Little Homestead
Goats are the comedians of the barn. They are either looking at us in disgust or screaming because the wind is blowing a certain direction. Goats are like high maintenance divas always looking for a that nice fresh flake of hay... it's always "snack time" !
We have a mix match of breeds that meet the mix match of characters. Eat goat has a name and a story. The one with big horns is the matriarch of the barn and disapproves of almost everyone, except me - and will let them know. She was our very first goat almost 12 years ago and is still as beautiful as the day we drove her home.
Most of the breeds we own are Lamancha , Toggenburg and Alpine. Then there are the sawed off and hammered down ones.
Nigerian dwarves and some fuzzy angora goats.
Much like our Reading with Rabbits Literacy Program we offer Reading with Goats! Kids ( human and of goat type) both have a great time settling in with one of our comical books relating to life on the farm with our goofy hooved friends!
Program includes cute make and take goat fact bookmarks for guests to take along!
$150 hr.
Great for schools, libraries, groups and clubs!
Extra mileage may apply.
We hand milk our goats daily, this maintains trust and produces the creamiest, sweetest milk! That milk is then made into lovely cheese, smooth yogurt and delicious ice cream. I also handcraft bubbly lather-full soaps for hair and body. Make the "old school" way with herb infused oils from our gardens. Occasionally I make small batches of skin nourishing lotions.
Our angora goats are the coolest of cucumbers when it comes to temperament. Their luxurious curly locks are found in many of our handspun yarns and needle felted crafts!
